MT4 Trade Copier
ConnectX Copy connects MetaTrader 4 accounts to each other and to every other platform we support, so an MT4 master can drive an MT5, cTrader, DXtrade, Match-Trader or TradeLocker slave without either broker knowing about the other.
MT4 is one of the two platforms where ConnectX Copy uses a real-time tickets stream rather than polling, so a trade on the master is picked up as the broker reports it instead of on the next poll interval.
How ConnectX Copy works with MetaTrader 4
Connect the account
Add your MT4 login, password and broker server. No EA to install on a chart and no VPS to rent — the connection runs in our cloud.
Pick a direction
Choose which account is the master and which is the slave. MT4 can act as either, including to a different platform.
Set sizing and protection
Choose one of five lot-sizing modes and optionally arm equity protection before the copier starts.
What MT4 supports
Both what it does and what it does not. The limitations are as useful to know as the features when you are deciding which account should lead.
- Copy as master or slave
- Real-time tickets streamMT4 and MT5 are the only platforms with a push stream; the others reconcile by polling.
- Live quote stream
- TradingView alert execution
- Stop-loss / take-profit on entry
- Modify stops after entryMT4 and MT5 are the only platforms with an order-modify path, so a master moving its stop moves the slave stop too.
- Partial close
Execution and symbol considerations
Symbol names differ between brokers — one may quote EURUSD and another EURUSD.r or EURUSDm. Symbol mapping lets you pair them explicitly so the copy is not dropped for an unrecognised symbol.
Because MT4 exposes an order-modify path, a stop or target moved on the master is mirrored to the slave rather than being frozen at its entry value.
Risk management
All five sizing modes are available on MT4: Fixed Lot, Lot Multiplier, Balance Multiplier, Fixed Balance Multiplier and Equity Multiplier.
Equity protection can close copied trades, or close every trade on the account, when an equity stop-loss, take-profit or drawdown limit is reached.
Filters can restrict what is copied by symbol, lot size, direction, magic number or order comment.
Common use cases
Two brokers, one strategy
Run the same strategy on a second MT4 broker without re-running the EA or renting another VPS.
MT4 master, modern slave
Keep an existing MT4 strategy while copying its trades onto cTrader, DXtrade or TradeLocker.
Prop firm alongside a personal account
Mirror a personal MT4 account onto a funded account with its own lot sizing and drawdown limits.

MT4 questions
Do I need a VPS to copy MT4 trades?
No. The connection runs in our cloud, so your terminal does not have to stay open and there is no VPS to maintain.
Can I copy from MT4 to MT5?
Yes. MT4 can act as master or slave to any other supported platform, including MT5, cTrader, DXtrade, Match-Trader and TradeLocker.
Will my stop loss move if the master moves it?
Yes on MT4. It is one of only two platforms with an order-modify path, so changes to a stop or target on the master are mirrored to the slave.
What happens if the two brokers use different symbol names?
Symbol mapping lets you pair them explicitly, so EURUSD on one broker can be matched to EURUSD.r on another.
