cTrader Copy Trading

ConnectX Copy connects cTrader accounts through cTrader’s own OAuth flow, so you authorise access in cTrader rather than handing over your trading password.

A cTrader account can be the master or the slave in a copier, including paired with MT4 or MT5, and can execute TradingView alerts.

How ConnectX Copy works with cTrader

01

Authorise with cTrader

Connect through cTrader’s OAuth screen and pick the trading account to link. Your password is never entered into ConnectX Copy.

02

Pick a direction

Use cTrader as the master, the slave, or both across different copiers.

03

Set sizing and protection

Choose one of the five lot-sizing modes and optionally arm equity protection.

What cTrader supports

Both what it does and what it does not. The limitations are as useful to know as the features when you are deciding which account should lead.

  • Copy as master or slave
  • OAuth connectionAuthorised through cTrader itself rather than by sharing a password.
  • TradingView alert execution
  • Stop-loss / take-profit on entry
  • Modify stops after entrycTrader has no order-modify path in our integration, so a stop set at entry stays where it was placed. Later changes on the master are not mirrored.
  • Real-time tickets streamcTrader is reconciled by polling rather than the MT push stream.

Execution and symbol considerations

Stops and targets sent with an entry are honoured. What is not available is moving them afterwards, so a strategy that trails its stop on the master will not trail it on a cTrader slave.

If you need stops to follow the master after entry, use an MT4 or MT5 account as the slave for that copier.

Because a cTrader connection is authorised by token rather than password, re-authorising is occasionally required if you revoke access in cTrader.

Risk management

All five sizing modes are available: Fixed Lot, Lot Multiplier, Balance Multiplier, Fixed Balance Multiplier and Equity Multiplier.

Equity protection applies to cTrader accounts in the same way as any other platform.

Filters by symbol, lot size, direction, magic number and comment apply.

cTrader questions

Do I have to give you my cTrader password?

No. cTrader accounts connect through cTrader’s OAuth flow, so you authorise access there and we never receive your password.

Can I copy from MT5 to cTrader?

Yes, in either direction. Symbol mapping handles the differences in instrument naming between the platforms.

Will my stop loss move on cTrader if the master moves it?

No. cTrader has no order-modify path in our integration. A stop sent with the entry is placed, but later changes are not mirrored — use MT4 or MT5 as the slave if you need that.

Can cTrader execute TradingView alerts?

Yes, including alerts that carry a stop loss or take profit at entry.
