MT5 to cTrader Trade Copier
Run your strategy on MT5 and have a cTrader account follow it, with stops placed at entry and sizing converted for the destination.
ConnectX Copy links an MT5 master to a cTrader destination. The cTrader account is connected through cTrader’s own OAuth screen, so you authorise access there and never enter a trading password into ConnectX Copy.
This pairing crosses a platform boundary, which changes two things worth understanding before you set it up: stops can be placed with the entry but cannot be moved afterwards, and the destination is reconciled by polling rather than a push stream.
How MT5 → cTrader copying works
MT5 master is watched
The MT5 account is connected by login and server and its trade activity arrives on a real-time push stream.
The order is translated
The MT5 symbol is matched to cTrader’s name and the lot is converted using the ratio of the two contract sizes, which commonly differ across this boundary.
cTrader executes
The position opens on cTrader with any stop or target sent at entry. Closes and partial closes follow the master.
What ConnectX Copy can copy on this pair
Including what it cannot. The limits are as useful as the features when you are choosing which account should lead.
- Entry and close copying
- Stop loss and take profit at entrycTrader accepts stops sent with the entry.
- Partial close
- Pending ordersA copied order carrying an entry price is placed as a pending order on cTrader.
- Reverse copying
- Stop changes after entrycTrader has no order-modify path, so a stop moved on the MT5 master is not moved on the cTrader copy. It stays where it was placed at entry.
- Real-time stream on the destinationcTrader is reconciled by polling; only MT4 and MT5 receive a push stream.
Risk and lot-sizing controls
All five sizing modes apply: Fixed Lot, Lot Multiplier, Balance Multiplier, Fixed Balance Multiplier and Equity Multiplier.
Contract alignment matters more here than between two MetaTrader accounts, because MT5 and cTrader brokers frequently define different contract sizes for the same instrument. It is on by default and converts the lot by that ratio before rounding to cTrader’s step.
Equity protection applies to the cTrader account and operates at account level, which is the right tool when per-trade stops cannot be adjusted later.
Filters by symbol, lot range, direction, magic number and comment apply.
Symbol mapping
cTrader instrument names frequently differ from MetaTrader conventions, so this is the pairing where mapping is most often needed.
The matcher normalises both names and tries exact, prefix, bi-directional contains and contract-size proximity before giving up.
Where it cannot resolve a name, map the pair explicitly once and the copier uses your mapping from then on.
Platform-specific behaviour
cTrader is position based and MT5 may be hedging or netting, so the relationship between master tickets and destination positions depends on how the MT5 account is configured.
The cTrader connection is authorised by token rather than password. If you revoke access in cTrader, the connection needs re-authorising before copying resumes.
Important limitations
- Stops cannot be moved after entry on cTrader. A strategy that trails its stop on the MT5 master will not trail it on the cTrader copy — the stop remains at its entry value.
- If your strategy depends on moving stops, keep an MT4 or MT5 account as the destination for that copier.
- The destination is polled rather than pushed, so reaction is bounded by how quickly the account can be read.
Setting it up
- 01Connect the MT5 account with its login, password and broker server.
- 02Connect the cTrader account through the cTrader OAuth screen and pick the trading account.
- 03Create a copier with MT5 as master and cTrader as destination.
- 04Choose a sizing mode, leave contract alignment on, and set Copy SL / Copy TP if you want stops placed at entry.
- 05Map any symbols the matcher could not resolve, then start the copier.

MT5 → cTrader questions
Will my stop loss copy to cTrader?
A stop sent with the entry is placed. What cannot happen is moving it later — cTrader has no order-modify path, so the stop stays where it was set at entry.
Do I have to share my cTrader password?
No. cTrader connects through its own OAuth screen, so you authorise access in cTrader and we never receive the password.
Why does the lot size differ from the master?
MT5 and cTrader brokers often define different contract sizes for the same instrument. Contract alignment converts the lot by that ratio, then rounds to cTrader’s lot step.
Are cTrader symbol names a problem?
They differ from MetaTrader conventions often enough that manual mapping is common. The matcher resolves most cases; anything left can be mapped once and reused.
