Why cTrader for Copy Trading?

cTrader is one of the fastest-growing trading platforms in the industry, favored by traders who want a modern interface, transparent execution, and advanced charting. Originally popular among ECN/STP brokers, cTrader has expanded to dozens of major brokers worldwide.

With ConnectXCopy, you can use cTrader accounts as both master and slave in your copy trading setup — and mix them freely with MT4, MT5, Tradovate, and DxTrade accounts.

How to Connect Your cTrader Account

cTrader uses a different connection method than MetaTrader. Instead of entering login credentials directly, cTrader uses OAuth authorization — the same secure industry-standard method used by Google, Facebook, and other major platforms.

Here's the step-by-step process:

  1. Go to Accounts in your ConnectXCopy dashboard.
  2. Click Add Account and select cTrader as the platform.
  3. Click the "Authorize with cTrader" button.
  4. You'll be securely redirected to cTrader's official login page (cid.ctrader.com).
  5. Log in with your cTrader ID and grant ConnectXCopy access to your accounts.
  6. Select which specific trading account you want to connect.
  7. Done — your cTrader account now appears in your account list, ready to use.

Security note: OAuth means ConnectXCopy never sees or stores your cTrader password. The connection is maintained through secure tokens that can be revoked at any time from your cTrader ID settings.

Cross-Platform Copying with cTrader

One of ConnectXCopy's strengths is that platforms are completely interchangeable. Every combination works:

MasterSlaveUse Case
cTraderMT4 / MT5Trade on cTrader's superior interface, copy to your MetaTrader broker accounts
MT4 / MT5cTraderTrade on MetaTrader, mirror to your cTrader broker accounts
cTradercTraderCopy between cTrader accounts at different brokers
cTraderTradovate / DxTradeMix cTrader with other platforms entirely

Symbol Mapping for cTrader

cTrader typically uses clean, standardized symbol names like EURUSD, GBPJPY, and XAUUSD. However, when copying to MT4/MT5 accounts, the slave broker may use different naming conventions (EURUSDm, XAUUSD.raw, etc.).

ConnectXCopy's auto-mapping handles this automatically in most cases by detecting the base instrument behind broker-specific prefixes and suffixes. For exotic instruments or non-standard names, use the manual mapping interface to define explicit translations.

Best Practices for cTrader Copy Trading

  • OAuth tokens auto-refresh — Once connected, your cTrader account stays linked automatically. No need to re-enter credentials or re-authorize periodically.
  • Leverage cTrader's strengths — If you prefer cTrader's charting, level II pricing, and order management, use it as your master account. Your analysis and execution happen on cTrader while all other accounts copy seamlessly.
  • Watch contract size differences — Some instruments have different contract sizes between cTrader and MetaTrader (especially indices and commodities). ConnectXCopy handles lot size conversion, but verify with a test trade for any unusual instruments.
  • Both market and pending orders are supported — Buy stops, sell limits, and all other pending order types copy correctly between cTrader and other platforms.
  • You can revoke access anytime — If you ever want to disconnect, simply revoke ConnectXCopy's access from your cTrader ID settings page. The connection is immediately terminated.
