cTrader's Built-In Copy Feature
cTrader has a native copy trading feature that lets providers share strategies and followers copy them. It works well within the cTrader ecosystem, but it has significant limitations that affect serious traders.
Limitation 1: cTrader-Only
cTrader's copy feature only works between cTrader accounts. If your followers use MT4 or MT5, they can't subscribe. If you want to copy to your own MT5 account at a different broker, the built-in feature can't do it.
ConnectXCopy solution: Copy from cTrader to MT4, MT5, Match-Trader, DXtrade, or TradeLocker — any combination.
Limitation 2: Same Broker Required
Even within cTrader, the built-in copy feature typically requires both provider and follower to be at the same broker. Cross-broker copying isn't supported natively.
ConnectXCopy solution: Copy between cTrader accounts at different brokers with no restrictions.
Limitation 3: Limited Risk Control
cTrader's native copying offers basic lot scaling but lacks advanced features like:
- Equity protection with auto-pause
- Multiple lot sizing modes (balance ratio, risk percentage)
- Symbol filtering per follower
- Fixed stop loss overrides
ConnectXCopy solution: All of these features are available per copier, with individual settings for each follower account.
Limitation 4: Strategy Exposure
When you provide signals through cTrader's copy feature, your strategy performance, trade history, and open positions become publicly visible to followers. Your edge is exposed.
ConnectXCopy solution: Your master account is private. Followers see trades on their own account but have no access to your strategy details, performance metrics, or portfolio.
When cTrader's Built-In Feature Works
If all your accounts are on cTrader at the same broker, and you don't need advanced risk features, the built-in copy feature is convenient and free. For everything else — cross-platform, cross-broker, advanced risk management — a third-party copier like ConnectXCopy is the better tool.
