cTrader to MT5 Trade Copier

Trade on cTrader and have MT5 accounts follow every position, with contract sizes converted and full stop management on the destination.

ConnectX Copy watches a cTrader account and reproduces its trades on MT5. cTrader pushes execution events as they happen, so copies are placed on the master’s activity rather than on a polling cycle.

The cTrader account is connected through cTrader’s own authorisation screen. You approve access there and no trading password is ever entered into ConnectX Copy.

MT5 is a particularly good destination for a cTrader master, because MT5 accepts stops at entry and allows them to be moved afterwards — so a strategy that manages its stops keeps working across the platform boundary.

How cTrader → MT5 copying works

01

cTrader is authorised

Connect the account through cTrader’s OAuth screen. ConnectX Copy receives a token, not your password.

02

Execution events arrive

cTrader pushes fills as they happen, so there is no polling delay on the source side.

03

Size and symbol are converted

cTrader and MT5 commonly quote different contract sizes, so the lot is converted rather than copied as a number, and the symbol is matched to your MT5 broker’s name.

04

MT5 executes and keeps up

The position opens with its stop and target, and later changes on the master are applied to the copy.

What ConnectX Copy can copy on this pair

Including what it cannot. The limits are as useful as the features when you are choosing which account should lead.

  • Entry and close copying
  • Stop loss and take profitMT5 accepts stops at entry.
  • Stop changes after entryThe MT5 destination supports order modification, so stop moves carry across.
  • Partial close
  • Contract-size conversionApplied automatically so a differing contract size does not change your risk.
  • OAuth connectionNo cTrader password is stored.
  • Multiple MT5 destinations
  • Real-time source eventscTrader pushes executions rather than being polled.

Risk and lot-sizing controls

Fixed lot, lot multiplier, or scaling by the MT5 account’s balance or equity.

Fixed master balance sizing if you would rather size against a nominated figure than the cTrader account’s live balance.

Minimum and maximum lot enforcement for the MT5 broker’s limits.

Direction and lot-range filters to decide which cTrader trades are copied.

Equity protection on the MT5 destination, with alert, pause or close actions.

Symbol mapping

cTrader and MT5 name instruments differently, and contract sizes often differ too — both are resolved before the order is placed.

Automatic matching covers the common instruments; explicit mappings handle anything with an unusual broker name or suffix.

Because the conversion is part of sizing, a 0.10 cTrader position does not blindly become a 0.10 MT5 position when the two contracts are not the same size.

Platform-specific behaviour

The cTrader side is authorised by OAuth, so access can be revoked from your cTrader account at any time without changing a password.

Both ends of this pairing are real-time: cTrader pushes execution events and MT5 runs on a push stream.

Important limitations

  • A cTrader account must be authorised through cTrader’s own login screen, which needs a browser step the first time.

Setting it up

  1. 01Connect your cTrader account and approve access on cTrader’s authorisation screen.
  2. 02Connect the MT5 account that should follow it.
  3. 03Create the copier and choose a sizing rule.
  4. 04Confirm the symbol mapping for anything you trade with an unusual name.
  5. 05Place a small cTrader trade and check it arrives on MT5.

Common use cases

Moving from cTrader to an MT5 broker

Keep trading where you are comfortable while an MT5 account builds the same track record.

Feeding MT5 prop accounts from a cTrader master

One cTrader account can drive several MT5 destinations, each sized independently.

Keeping a cTrader strategy on an MT5 reporting account

Useful when the account you report on has to be MT5 for reasons outside your control.

cTrader → MT5 questions

Do I have to give ConnectX Copy my cTrader password?

No. cTrader uses OAuth, so you authorise access on cTrader’s own screen and we hold a token you can revoke at any time.

What happens if the contract sizes differ?

The lot is converted using the ratio between them, so your risk on the MT5 side matches what you intended rather than the raw number.

Do stops move if I trail them on cTrader?

Yes. MT5 accepts order modification, so the copy follows the master’s stop changes.

Can one cTrader account feed several MT5 accounts?

Yes, each with its own sizing rule and risk settings.

Is the copy real-time?

Yes. cTrader pushes execution events and MT5 uses a push stream, so neither side waits for a polling cycle.
