Match-Trader to MT4 Trade Copier

Use a Match-Trader account as your master and have MT4 accounts follow, with stops kept in step and sizing set per destination.

ConnectX Copy watches a Match-Trader account and reproduces its trades on MT4, so a firm-issued account can lead while your own account holds the same positions.

This is one of the few routes where BOTH ends can move a stop after it is placed. Match-Trader accepts edits to an open position and MT4 accepts order modification, so a break-even move or a trailing stop travels the whole way rather than stopping at the platform boundary. A pairing that reads from TradeLocker cannot offer that, because the source itself cannot change a stop mid-trade.

On the receiving side you also get MT4’s own machinery — magic numbers, comments and the tooling built around them — which is often the reason the destination is MT4 in the first place.

How Match-Trader → MT4 copying works

01

Match-Trader is connected

Add the account with its email, password and broker details. Positions are reconciled on a short cycle.

02

MT4 destinations are attached

Add each MT4 account by login, password and server.

03

The order is translated

The instrument is mapped to the MT4 broker’s symbol and the lot calculated for that account.

04

MT4 executes and tracks

The position opens with its stop and target and follows later changes.

What ConnectX Copy can copy on this pair

Including what it cannot. The limits are as useful as the features when you are choosing which account should lead.

  • Entry and close copying
  • Stop loss and take profit
  • Stop changes after entryMT4 supports order modification on the destination side.
  • Partial close
  • Multiple MT4 destinations
  • Reverse copying
  • Direction and lot-range filters
  • Symbol mapping

Risk and lot-sizing controls

Because the master is usually a firm account, scaling against a fixed master balance behaves best — resets and payouts on the Match-Trader side then stop moving the size of your own trades.

Balance and equity scaling remain available when the two accounts are simply different sizes.

Lot floors and ceilings keep the calculated size inside each MT4 broker’s own limits, which vary more between brokers than people expect.

Direction and lot-range filters to select what reaches the destination.

Equity protection runs on the MT4 account’s own equity, so your personal account is protected on its own terms rather than inheriting the firm’s.

Symbol mapping

Match-Trader brokers use their own naming and MT4 brokers add suffixes, so both are resolved before the order is placed.

Explicit mappings cover indices, metals and anything unusual.

Any difference in contract size between the two brokers is applied as the lot is worked out.

Platform-specific behaviour

The Match-Trader source is reconciled over REST on a short cycle rather than a push stream, so copies land within seconds.

The MT4 destination supports the full set of order operations, so nothing is lost on that side.

Important limitations

  • The master and every MT4 follower each use a connection.

Setting it up

  1. 01Connect the Match-Trader account as the master.
  2. 02Connect each MT4 account that should follow.
  3. 03Create the copier and choose sizing and filters.
  4. 04Confirm symbol mappings for what you trade.
  5. 05Place a small trade and confirm it copies.

Common use cases

Trading your own money alongside a funded account

The firm account leads and your personal MT4 account takes the same positions at whatever size suits it.

Keeping trailing stops end to end

Both platforms accept stop changes, so a strategy that manages its stop behaves identically on the copy.

Feeding an MT4 account that runs tooling

Copied trades carry comments that MT4 journals, dashboards and Expert Advisors can read.

Hedging a firm account elsewhere

With reverse copying the MT4 destination takes the opposite side instead of the same one.

Match-Trader → MT4 questions

Does a trailing stop survive the crossing?

Yes, and this pairing is unusual in that respect. Match-Trader lets the master edit an open position and MT4 lets the copy be modified, so the stop moves at both ends. A TradeLocker master could not offer the same, because it cannot change a stop after entry at all.

Which sizing mode suits a funded master?

Scaling against a fixed master balance. Firm accounts get reset and paid out, and without that setting each event would resize your own trades for reasons unrelated to the strategy.

Can the MT4 copy trade the opposite direction?

Yes. Reverse copying makes the destination take the other side, which is how some traders hedge a funded account rather than mirror it.

Will copied trades be identifiable on MT4?

Yes — they carry a comment, so MT4 journals, dashboards and Expert Advisors can tell them apart from anything you place by hand.

How far behind the master does MT4 run?

Match-Trader is read on a short REST cycle rather than a push stream, so the copy lands seconds after the fill.
