Why Traders Run Multiple Prop Firm Accounts
Profitable prop firm traders rarely stick with one account. The math is simple: if your strategy makes 5% monthly on a $100,000 account, running 3 accounts triples your income to 3x profit shares — all from the same trades.
The challenge is execution. Manually placing the same trade on 3-5 accounts simultaneously is impossible without slippage and errors. That's where a trade copier becomes essential.
The Multi-Account Setup
Here's how it works with ConnectXCopy:
- Master account: Your personal trading account (not a prop firm account). This is where you execute your strategy.
- Slave accounts: Each prop firm funded account connects as a separate slave. Each has its own risk settings.
- One execution, many fills: You place a trade on your master, and within 200ms, all funded accounts receive the same trade with appropriate sizing.
Individual Risk Configuration Per Account
Each prop firm has different rules, and each account may have a different balance. ConnectXCopy lets you configure each slave independently:
| Setting | FTMO $100K | FundedNext $50K | E8 $200K |
|---|---|---|---|
| Equity protection | 8% (firm limit: 10%) | 4% (firm limit: 5%) | 9% (firm limit: 12%) |
| Lot sizing | Balance ratio | Balance ratio | Fixed 1.0 lots |
| Copy SL/TP | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Platform | MT5 | cTrader | Match-Trader |
Notice that each account can be on a different platform. Your master could be on MT4, and you're copying to MT5, cTrader, and Match-Trader simultaneously. ConnectXCopy handles the cross-platform translation automatically.
Important Rules for Multi-Account Prop Trading
Don't Copy Between Prop Accounts at the Same Firm
Most prop firms monitor for account duplication. If you have two FTMO accounts, don't copy between them — copy from your personal master to each independently.
Use Your Personal Account as Master
Your master should always be a personal account that you own. This way, if a prop firm suspends one of your accounts, your master and all other slaves continue operating normally.
Set Conservative Equity Protection
Always set equity protection 2-3% below the firm's hard limit. A buffer protects you from overnight gaps or rapid market moves that could blow past the exact threshold.
Monitor Independently
ConnectXCopy's dashboard shows real-time status for each copier. Check that all funded accounts are connected, receiving trades, and within their drawdown limits. A disconnected account means missed trades — and missed exits are worse than missed entries.
Scaling Your Operation
Start with one funded account as a slave. Once you're comfortable with the setup and confident in your equity protection settings, add more. There's no practical limit — ConnectXCopy supports as many slave accounts as you need.
The goal is a single trading workflow (analyze, decide, execute on master) that automatically scales to every funded account you manage, with individual risk settings protecting each one independently.
